Changes

Gavin has changed - even in just the past couple of days. The other day he seemed more babyish, and now he seems like more of a big boy. Maybe the haircut I gave him caused a magical transformation. No more haircuts. Ever.

He's consistently standing on his own now. Without holding onto anything. Yes, in the very middle of the room with no one and no toy in sight. Just plain old balancing himself into standing position. Not just once, but over and over and over. He loves praise and clapping, and he WILL perform if encouraged! He also will toddle over to me (holding onto something) to give me hugs and big open mouth sloppy kisses. His hugs are the sweetest, big bear hugs ever. Every now and then we have caught him taking a step between one object to the other, but it's been rare. Tonight he stood up straight by himself and took one big step towards the couch. He's gaining confidence! And he's now discovered, as Blane did at this age, that throwing blankets and lovies out of his crib is funny, and causes mommy run around crazy. Silly little boy! I think his first official word was car, or ball, but pretty sure it was car. But he also identifies Blane, ball, truck, quack quack. Oh yes, and when he sees ducks, he says while pointing to them, "Quack quack!" He can copy pretty much any simple word that we say such as wall or diaper. And he's fascinated by birds and airplanes and loves to point at them in the sky.
