Easter Advent Day 6

The cross …..

"They took Jesus, therefore, and He went out, BEARING HIS OWN CROSS, to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha." John 19:17

Jesus physically carried His own cross on the long road towards death. And if you think the weight of the cross after a brutal beating was heavy and torturous, imagine the weight of your sin alone, much less the sins of the world, on His shoulders. He could have turned around, laid the cross down, had a legion of angels attack His accusers, He could have come off the cross, rescued himself and put to death those inflicting death on Him. But out of love He carried the cross, my cross, your cross, Blane's cross, Gavin's cross to a death that He didn't deserve. So on day 6 we painted and hung crosses and we talked about how gracious our Father is, that His Son carried that heavy uncomfortable cross to a brutal crucifixion, so that we didn't have to.
