If you're familiar with Dr. Seuss books, then you may have heard of Oobleck. In our house, Oobleck is a super fun science experiment when it's too hot or too cold to venture out of the house. Blane and I could play in Oobleck for hours! What is Oobleck, you may ask? Oobleck is a liquid, and it's a solid - it acts like a liquid when you move your hand slowly through it, and it acts as a solid when pressure is applied to it. Basically, it boils down to this: adding corn startch to water slows down the reaction time of a liquid. The best thing about Oobleck? It's easy to clean up! Give it a try!!!
Oobleck:
2 C corn starch
1 C water
food coloring of your choice
Pour cornstarch in a large bowl. Set aside.
Add several drops of food coloring to your water and mix.
Now, add your water to the corn starch in the bowl.
Mix well (this is hard!)
Play in your mixture!
