Easter Advent Day 1

Yay Easter!!!! What a celebration we look forward to on Easter morning! The Good News is that Jesus took our sin to the cross, buried it in the grave, conquered a death which was meant for us, and He ascended to Heaven where He makes intercession, and ultimately there is no fear of ultimate judgement for those who believe because the price has been paid....

There IS One who has gone as a forerunner on your behalf, who lives to make intercession for you, who has sealed for redemption those who claim Him! There is great hope in the GOOD news of the Gospel!

I am hopeful that reading Truth, and walking my kids through Gospel day after day, year after year, Easter after Easter - that head knowledge would become heartfelt understanding, that they would be drawn to abounding grace and mercy which they don't deserve. I am confident that the Lord is pursuing their hearts and deepening their understanding of their desperation apart from Jesus. I pray that He captures their hearts and woos them to Himself, their loving Heavenly Father.

Today we read about Jesus' triumphal entry to Jerusalem on a donkey from Matthew 21:1-9. The boys were excited to color "pet donkeys" to display on the wall and remind us throughout the day of Jesus purposely entering the city to face death, willingly. We also read peek-a-bible's Easter Story (our absolute favorite and an easy one for the kids to memorize), What is Easter by Michelle Adams, and Little Colts Palm Sunday (not theologically accurate but it's a cute tale from the donkey's perspective). There was a little sibling rivalry over who got to put today's symbol on our large hanging cross- but I assured them that with eleven days to go there would be ample opportunity for everyone to have a turn :)
