Easter Advent Day 10

Linen Wrapping- Joseph from Arimathea lovingly took Jesus' body, wrapped it in clean linen cloth, and prepared it for burial. But it wasn't just HIS body that was buried. We died with Him and we will also live with him. The sin of our old self was buried with Christ. "He has now reconciled you in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him" Col 1:22. He has perfected us- "For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified" HEB 10:14. We have been made new, yet we are not totally new until our redemption is complete. John Piper says that "in the imperfection of our progress we have already been perfected". We are being sanctified each and every day, looking more and more like Jesus, shedding the old and boldly claiming the new. "The good news is that being on the way is proof that we have arrived. The suffering of Christ secures our perfection firmly, we fight against sin not to become perfect but because we already are. The death of Jesus is the key to battling our imperfections on the firm foundation of our perfection." - Piper. So today we buried our sin in the tomb with Jesus and proclaimed that although we still battle sin, we bury our guilt and shame and unrighteousness with Jesus and instead put on a "garment of salvation and a robe of righteousness" and are confident that "he who began a good work in us will bring it completion at the day of Christ Jesus" Phil 1:6.
