It's always sad for me to see the months flying by, and my little baby turn into a big boy - but it's also so exciting for me to see him grow and change, and more than anything it's precious to see the way that the Lord is revealing Himself to Blane's little heart! I just love Blane's humor, his sensitivity, his love for animals, his delight in scripture and song, his genuine brotherly love, his eagerness to draw and write and learn! And oh how I love to capture the funny, things that he says:
"Mommy, why doesn't the sun have points?"
"Mommy, I will rock baby Ashley, you will rock Gavin, and who will Daddy rock?"
"JuneBug cannot sleep in my room with me, she will be too afraid of the dark!"
Blane was pretending to be Mommy and tuck me in the other day - and he was trying to teach me the proper way to such my thumb : )
Scott gave Blane some Tylenol after a cut the other day. Scott told Blane that it would take a while for the medicine to kick in. Blane replied, "Daddy! Don't kick my owie!!!"
Blane is much more outgoing these days than he used to be. In fact, at the park he's eager to make new friends and usually gravitates to the really big boys! It's funny to see him be his own little person out in the big (park) world! Blane has really taken to JuneBug more this year, and he loves to be with her, play with her, cuddle with her, and take care of her - I think I have a greater understanding of boys bonding with their dogs. One of our favorite games to play in the car is "find that letter" where B has to look out his window and identify different letters on signs. He is especially sharp at locating the letter "B" but is really doing well with tons of others. In fact, any item, toy, cracker box etc with a letter B on it he identifies as "B for Blane!" and assumes he owns it : ) Blane is very articulate, verbal, and can enunciate well! Blane adores his school, his teachers, his friends, his church, his brother, his pups, and my mommy heart wants so bad to protect him from the sinful world outside all these things - so I daily have to turn little Blane over to the Lord and trust that He has a mighty plan for his life that is far better than my own plan for him. How fun it is indeed to be the mommy of this little boy!
