I absolutely cannot wait for CityView Ladies Craft Night on Jan 21st at 7! You may be wondering what exactly we will be making?! We are putting together an Easter/Holy Week "Advent" calendar along with a 12 day devotional which we can share with our kids and our families! If you have heard of Resurrection Eggs, this is a similar idea, except with this particular calendar it can be easily hung on the wall for all to see and remember for each of the 12 days of devotions. So, this is very similar to a Jesse Tree or Advent Calendar which you might use at Christmas time. My hope is that by using the devotional readings and matching symbols each of the 12 days leading to Easter, we can encourage the Truths of the gospel in our homes!
This is a craft for everyone, even if you don't have kids yet, or your kids have left home - this would make an incredibly special gift for someone! A sweet friend of mine received a Jesse Tree calendar from her mom when she was first married and not only uses it in her home each Christmas season, but has seen new ways that her kids hearts are turning towards Jesus each year! This project has been on my heart for a while now, and my prayer is that we can have fun fellowship with one another as we work to make the gospel shine brighter in our homes this Easter season!
So, here is what we are making:
This is a brown felt cross with each of the 12 symbols for each day attached to it with velcro. This cross can be hung directly onto your wall with sticky tack (or whatever your husband permits - mine is picky hehe)
Or, when you get home you can take this project a step further and buy a rectangle piece of felt a little larger than the cross and hang it by a dowel rod (felt is pretty inexpensive at 4.99 a yard full price, and you would maybe need 1/2 yard for a rectangle backdrop). If you are really ambitious - you could even cut out 12 square pockets from extra felt and hot glue the cross and pockets to a rectangle backdrop. If you added the pockets, then you could store your symbols in the appropriate pocket for each day and let your kids retrieve the symbol and attach it to the cross!
Bring $5 to Ladies Night on Jan 21st and take home your devotional booklet, your felt cross, and all 12 symbols! We will have so much fun spending the evening hanging out and making our symbols together!
How to sign up: Please email me by FRIDAY, JAN 14TH to let me know that you are coming so that we have ample supply of crafting materials!
