My two little boys love each other. They absolutely cherish the other. They are the best of playmates. They look out for each other. They wonder where the other is at all times. Yet, they are brothers - which means that they fight. A lot. At times (sometimes more often than not) they are unkind to one another. I think that if you were a fly on my wall, you would most often hear me saying, "Please be kind. Is that kind? Choose to be kind to each other."
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ forgave you." Eph. 4:32
We struggle daily to be kind to one another because we are corrupt, vile, and do nothing good apart from our identity in Christ. (Ps 14). I will pray to our sweet savior tomorrow that my boys ooozzzz kindness. That they will be considerate, caring, loving. My hope is that their kindness will extend beyond the walls of this house, this church, this city, their race, their country....I hope they can boldly show kindness to the broader human race because of the kindness their heavenly Father has shown to them.
