Project 365 - Day 19 {Ashley's Dedication Day!}

Today is so special for us! We had the privilege of dedicating our sweet little Ashley before The Body. We publicly declared that as a family, we are committed to raising her and encouraging her to become a godly woman, a fully devoted follower and disciple of Jesus. We certainly recognize that dedication is not what will save her. But we are so hopeful that she will clearly see Jesus in us and through us, in our family, and in The Body of our C3 community; and we pray that her Creator would capture her little heart! We made several promises in front of our church family and we are eager to be held accountable to these promises:

  1. That we recognize Ashley as a gift from God, and we give heartfelt thanks for his blessing.
  2. We surrendered all worldly claims on her life in hoping that she will belong wholly to God
  3. We pledged that with God's help we would bring her up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, making every reasonable effort, with patience and love, to build the Word of God, the Character of Christ and the joy of the Lord into her life.
  4. We promised to provide her with physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs with love and strength
  5. We promised to make it a regular prayer that by God's grace Ashley would come to trust Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of her sins and for the fulfillment of all his promises to her, even eternal life: and in this faith follow Jesus as Lord and obey him

We are confident that God has equipped us to parent her, to love her, and to instruct her. I don't just eagerly await the day of her regeneration but I anticipate a life of watching Him sanctify her, and I am confident that one day, she will see him clearly - face to face.
