The month of December has been a precious time of preparing for the birth of our Savior! Our advent calendar was a HUGE hit with the boys and our family time each night reading the bible was priceless. I think all four of us gained a new insight into how each Old Testament figure led lives that pointed to Jesus coming! We added the lighting of advent candles this year which was really fun (and less stressful since they were flameless!) Our nativity scene was a hit yet again, and it's so fun to see them acting out scenes from the Christmas story! Our memory verses for this month were Isaiah 9:6 and Luke 2:11 - prophecy and fulfillment! Blane's two favorite Christmas songs this year are Rise and Fall by Daniel Renstrom and Christ is Here by Todd Fields. Both of these beautiful songs have been on repeat all month : ) We always love to read our Christmas books at night to reiterate what Christmas is really all about! This year we added some new favorites to the library per recommendations and good finds:
Humphrey's First Christmas By Carol Heyer
The First Christmas By Carol Heyer
J is for Jesus by Crystal Bowman
My Christmas Gift by Crystal Bowman
The Story of St. Nicholas by Cheryl Odden (VOTM)
Who's Coming to Our House by Joseph Slate and Ashley Wolff
and a wonderful article for parents by Mark Driscoll can be found here
We topped off December fun by spending Christmas in Colorado with ALL of our family, in the snow and cold! (Pics to come soon!) It is so fun to share with the boys during Christmas time and all year round why our HOPE is in Jesus, and nothing else!
